For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

L'ma'an Tzion lo echesheh. U'l'ma'an Yerushalayim lo eshkot. Ad yetzi ka no ga tzidkah. Lo echesheh.

למען ציון לא אחשׁה ולמען ירושׁלם לא אשׁקוט עד יצא כנגה צדקה וישׁועתה כלפיד יבער

Shabbat in Tiveria and Poriya Illit ... by Hannah

We enjoyed a beautiful Shabbat here in the Galil area. A dear friend of ours came over from Haifa - Miss Kay. We had met her in Ashkelon, and were so happy to see each other again, but unfortunately I did not take any pictures :(

The family that we are staying with, are friends from the States who made Aliyah about five years ago. Aliyah is the word used when someone immigrates to Israel ... it is the Hebrew word for dawn, or going up. We have known this family for about 14 years, and they have seven children, including Tim and Arena who we were able to spend lots of time with.

In the late afternoon, we were able to spend some time with Mr. and Mrs. M in Tiveria. They are the parents of some friends of ours, and this was the first time we had met them. They were very kind and hospitable, and we enjoyed a beautiful time of visiting and fellowshipping with them.

They own an apartment with an incredible view of the Kinneret - the Sea of Galilee.

This is the northern side of the Kinneret.

When we returned to Poriya Illit, we went with Tim, Arena, and their sister-in-law Leeraz, to the store to get ice cream :)  The interesting thing is, nearly all stores in Israel close during the Shabbat (Saturday), and then they open up on Saturday night. The grocery store didn't open until 9:00pm, so we had about a half hour to wait. After getting the ice cream, we came back to the house ... enjoyed it ... and then Tommy dressed up in Tim's IDF (Israel Defense Force) uniform.

Tim had to show him the right way to salute :)

Tommy and Tim joked about Tommy going back to the base, and blending right in :)

I like this picture.

The others were commenting on how natural he looked in the uniform!

Joseph (Yosi) is one of Tim and Arena's younger brothers. It was late when we took this photo ... he didn't want to go to bed ... he was too busy watching the spectacle of Tommy dressed up like a soldier.

I got to hold the M16 too!

I would love to shoot this thing :)

More coming soon!
