For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

L'ma'an Tzion lo echesheh. U'l'ma'an Yerushalayim lo eshkot. Ad yetzi ka no ga tzidkah. Lo echesheh.

למען ציון לא אחשׁה ולמען ירושׁלם לא אשׁקוט עד יצא כנגה צדקה וישׁועתה כלפיד יבער

Concrete, Ice Cream, and Preparing For Shabbat ... by Hannah

Shalom Y'all!

I have some free time right now, so I thought I'd post some more pictures to give you an idea of what we've been doing lately :)

Tommy, mixing concrete for the wall, with Nesya as his helper.

Spreading the concrete on the welded wire.

"Smile!"

There will be several layers of concrete, and then stucco.

This is the flower box that Tommy built!

Here are a couple pictures that I took while I was cleaning one of the buses ...

The flower garden in the small "courtyard" of the Zimmerbus for couples.

This is the inside view from one direction ...

... and this is the other side. You can see the bathroom sink ... to the left of it is the toilet and shower ... the shower is decorated with mosaics - very pretty!

Jerry and Renee were visiting from South Carolina for several days, and they brought this ice cream maker as a gift for the Hirshfelds. We had lots of fun making fresh ice cream on Thursday night!

Rafael, taking his turn at the crank.

Asa-el works the crank, while Nesya waits for her turn.

He worked hard!

I love this picture :)

Yotam's turn.

Tsofnat is excited about ice cream!

Tommy and Yotam (Tommy must have thought it was too bright in the house).

Avigail had lots of fun with it!

Everyone had a turn to crank it.

Mmm ... Mmm ... Mmm!

Tsofnat was a mess!

Asa-el ... helping himself to another serving!

The family went away to some friends for the weekend. They left yesterday around noon, and then I began the Shabbat preparations.

This floor gets so dirty with all the desert dust! I swept it and washed it and then next thing I knew, it was dusty again!
Here is the challot that I made ... this was my first experience with braiding a six-braid challah.  Ruthie has wanted to do it for a long time, but we have not been able to figure it out. I'm looking forward to showing her when I get back!

The chicken for supper, along with potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, and onions. We had a fresh salad and the challah too.

That's all for now. Tommy and I plan to go for a walk in the desert this afternoon, but it is very hot here! We'll try to take some pictures of it ... the desert, I mean, not the heat!
