For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

L'ma'an Tzion lo echesheh. U'l'ma'an Yerushalayim lo eshkot. Ad yetzi ka no ga tzidkah. Lo echesheh.

למען ציון לא אחשׁה ולמען ירושׁלם לא אשׁקוט עד יצא כנגה צדקה וישׁועתה כלפיד יבער

Jerusalem and the Dead Sea ... by Hannah

Shalom Y'all,

We have a very busy day ahead of us in Jerusalem, but I'm going to try to post as many pictures as I can.

This past Thursday (June 9), Tommy and I took a bus from Ashkelon to Jerusalem, and then from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea/Ein Gedi. We took a lot of pictures, so I'm going to divide them into two posts.

Driving to the Dead Sea ... the Judean wilderness.

There were a lot of date palm trees.

I like the rugged beauty in this part of the desert.

We swam in the Dead Sea first ... or more correctly, floated in it. Actually, I preferred walking in it as opposed to floating :)

The salt content is so strong that the water leaves a strange feel on your hands.

Tommy spent most of the time floating ... propelling himself around with his hands.

The water is soooooo clear!

I think this must be for when it rains ... the water can go into the sea.

We walked from the Dead Sea to Ein Gedi.

I am going to post the rest of the Ein Gedi pictures in a separate post since there are so many. Here are a few pictures that we took when we came back to Jerusalem later in the day.

This park is a short distance from the Jaffa Gate, and is usually surprisingly quiet.

An olive tree.

The Old City Wall.

Talking to Abba (father).

Walking to the Jaffa Gate.

That's all for now. I will try to get the Ein Gedi pictures posted this evening, if we get back at a decent hour :)

Also, I wanted to thank you all for your prayers about my neck ... it is feeling much better, and I am very thankful!
