For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

L'ma'an Tzion lo echesheh. U'l'ma'an Yerushalayim lo eshkot. Ad yetzi ka no ga tzidkah. Lo echesheh.

Sukkot Pictures #3

Shalom Everyone!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and Chanukah!  Here is another group of pictures.  I hope you enjoy them.

Hiking:

Group Hike:
One Shabbat day, most of our group and some visitors went for a hike!  This hike was supposed to be a nice easy hike that all ages can do.  But it was not!  Well, it could have been if we had a leader who knew the way :)  Okay, let me explain!  We had two trailers with hay for everyone to ride on.  We were going to hike from one point to another, so we would then need the trailers over at the other spot to pick everyone up.  Tommy and Mr. Josh were going to take the trailers over and then meet up with us on the trail.

Everything was good so far ... so we got started.  After we crossed a long swinging bridge (that scared some people) ...

... we find out that we have to climb SEVERAL flights of rough stairs ...

... and then continue to climb the hill.  Yes ... this was the nice easy hike everyone had in mind :)

But ... everyone was in great spirits so there was not a thought of giving up and turning around!

But the great adventure had not started yet!  Once we got to the top of the hill, there was a "Y" split, and a sign saying where the different paths led to.  After reading the sign ... we were SURE that we needed to go to the right, which would lead us to our destination.  Yes, right!  After walking for awhile, the path was getting harder and there was questioning whether this was really the right path.  We came to another split in the path ... okay, now which way do we turn?  Several of the men ran ahead to scout out the one path and they came back saying it was a dead end path.  No, that can't be the right way ... so they try the other path.  They came back saying that there were steep hills and not the best path ... this could not be the way either.  So now what? :)  We decided to backtrack and see if we took the wrong trail.
You would think that in a large group like ours, someone would have brought a map of the trails ... but no, no one did!  So ... Clinton tried to get the trail on his iPhone.

Abba thought we needed to go this way!

Our "leader" decided to go all the way back to the first "Y" and check out the other trail.  Because we did not want to go any farther on the trail we were on, we followed him, at a slower pace ... he was running.  After a while we met up with him, and he said there was a "T" ... one way went to the parking lot where we were suppose to finally end up and the other way, he was not sure about.  Oh, I should add in, we were all wanting to go to a certain lookout along the way, before heading to the parking lot.
Tommy, Abigail, Finley, Clinton and myself had gone to the lookout a few days before, but we had come a different way.  But we recognized the spot where we were at and knew that if we went the other way at the "T" we could get to the lookout, and by that time Tommy had come up and he confirmed it.  So, a few people decided to go to the parking lot and the rest went on to the look out.

Only some of us went to the farthest point of the lookout, because you had to do some minor rock climbing to get there.  Once you got there though ... wow, it was so beautiful.

Heading back to the parking lot.

This fall is the tallest waterfall east of the Rockies.

On our way back to the camp-ground, we talked about what Moses must have gone through with leading the Israelites through the desert!  Our group and hike was SO small compared to the Israelites and their wandering, but we still got a tiny, tiny idea of what it could have been like!  We all had a LOT more respect for Moses :)

Hike Down To The Falls:

Another day we did a hike down to the base of the falls ... this hike was not as exciting and eventful because we had done this one several times before.

When we first got here, a few of us, Tommy Abigail, Clinton, Finley and I went around to the lookout that I mentioned in the other hike.

That large rock overlook is where we went.

Family Hike:

The day before we left, our family went on a hike together to a different fall.  This fall was not nearly as tall and big as the other fall, but it was pretty as well.

Abba and Ima.

Samuel has been trying to beat me in arm wrestling (he'll be able to really soon I'm sure) ... he often asks me to do it again.  This was one of those times.

Abigail and Lydia wanted to do it after us.

Some of us children.

I wish these pictures were better quality ... but they were taken on a cell phone a good distance away.

Abba.

We were blessed to watch a beautiful sunset.

Tommy, Samuel and I went to a different lookout that was a short hike away from where the family was.  But we had almost the same view that the other spot had.

Abba and Ima.

I'll post again soon.  Shalom!
